I do whinge a lot about India and how much I dislike being here. The kids and I spend a LOT of time inside the hotel room. But there have been fun things for the kids to do outside the hotel. Places to go, things to see. Sometimes it’s just such a huge hassle to get there and then while there we have to deal with staring, cheek pinching and general weirdness.
I thought it was time I shared some photos from these places of fun. Even if to prove my son isn’t tied to the play station.
This first place is Vanilla Childrens’ Place. An indoor/outdoor playspace with boutique and cafe attached. The cafe serves incredibly mediocre food that takes freaking AGES to get to your table. But the kids love the space and they can spend a couple of hours playing happily.
Another place, and slightly more convenient as it is inside a mall, is Fun City. Fun City is a franchise and the two that we frequented were at Citi Center and Express Avenue.
These places are not air conditioned so it is uncomfortable, but the kids still have fun. Plenty of rides and arcade style games as well as an indoor playground behind a gate where you sign your kid in and stand around while they play, and then when you want your kid back, they piss around for ages and ask you to wait. I don’t wait patiently when not given an explanation as to why, so I just jump the gate, take my child and tell them to shove their waiting time up their arse. But that’s me. Other people are probably more polite and happy to wait for the staff to piss arse around chatting.
Millar loves fun city. I’m not a huge fan.
We don’t go out as much as we would in Australia. Most outdoor playgrounds here are pretty shit to be honest, and the heat keeps us inside where the air-conditioning is. So we try and make the hotel room as fun as possible – which isn’t easy and after six months the novelty is wearing off – just a bit. But more about that later.
See my new counter over there in my sidebar? ——>
I’m counting down the days to go – only 23.
